Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Novocaine is the older type of local anesthetic , and very few dentists still use it . Modern anestetics a a lot more efficient and have less side effects. Anxiety that you describing ,most likely , was caused by epinephrine, the medicine that is added to novocaine to prolong its action. Epinephrine (adrenaline) makes your heart beat faster, and in some people may cause the reaction just like the one you had. There are also anesthetics available that have no epinephrine, and I would definitely use NO epinephrine on somebody with a history of reaction like this. For dental procedures we still use local anestetic, that is gently injected next to the area being worked on. With modern techniques and equipment the risk of reaction like this is minimalIf you have any questions do not hesitate to call (210) 495-7800Sincerely Stan Zebrowski, D.D.S.
